Events There is a very important conference, organized by the UN and the ITU (and heavily sponsored by Canada). This is the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which is designed to do for IT what the Rio and Kyoto conferences did for the environment.

Every country will be there, as well as more than 2,000 non-governmental organizations. Of these, the only multi-national free software and open source advocacy groups to be approved are the Linux Professional Institute and the Free Software Foundation.

I'll be posting more on WSIS, LPI and Canada's position on open source at WSIS, Until then I invite you to become aware of this major conference. It's actually surprising how many people in IT are completely unaware of it.
