General News Check out this press release It is reporting Mr Gates is Canada bound and it looks like our Prime Minister and Mr. Gates will be making thier relationship public after all. While on the surface this appears to be bad news for those of us that advocate the use of FSM, GNU/Linux and OSS solutions for public sector use, I think we can look at it another way. Politically, the Prime Minister has just come out of the closet so to speak by supporting Mr. Gates efforts to shore up his market share in the Canadian Economy. Like Mexico, like Peru, like...time and time again Microsoft is now interferring in matters of State of Independant Nations. What next Mr. Prime Minister? A Coke commercial? Or would Dr. Pepper be more appropriate?

remember this Open Letter To then Minister Tobin, that fell on deaf ears. Maybe its time to draft an open letter to the Prime Minister asking him to reconsider his invovlement with Mr. Gates company and to ask him that given all that has transpired since why his trusted advisors think this is a good thing for Canada

PMO Staff

I am very disappointed to hear that Prime Minister Chretien will be speaking at the "CAN WIN 2002 Summit on Canadian Innovation and Competitiveness" along with ethics revolutionary Bill Gates of Microsoft.

Exactly what message is Mr. Chretien looking to send here? One would be hard pressed to find a gathering with less ethical backbone than a meeting including _both_ Microsoft executives _and_ Canadian banking executives.

Mr. Prime Minister, if you must associate with people like this, you''ve overstayed your welcome as leader of Canada. Please step down and leave politics immediately and permanently.

J. E. Francis

In theory, I should be able to re-obtain this message in the future through F.O.I.
